Project: Mixed Mechanics
I designed this game for a level design class project. The prompt was to combine two or more games to focus on their mechanics and design a level that suits those mechanics. I chose to combine Portal and Pikmin, scaled down for the sake of scope. I focused on the teleporting aspect of portal because I thought it could make for interesting asymmetrical movement through the level. I added to this the expendable follower system of the Pikmin games with the intent to force the player to think before taking action as they have to worry about more than themselves when solving a puzzle. This took about 4 weeks, beginning with ideation, working through weekly review and feedback from the professor.
